This really was a fun exercise to hear the different readers.
The poet’s references were very relatable, cool sheets, refreshing glass of water, but I find myself stuck on the lioness and knee. I am trying not to find “the gate” and to simply “be” in the garden.

Hi Colleen– I believe the poet’s point about the knee and lioness is that somehow within the magic of poetry a connection will be made between a knee and a lioness that the reader will see when they read the poem. Two so different things we’ll see as having a connection through what the poet shows us. I think she is indicating this is the magic that only poetry can do .
