I loved this poem, and the visual of the aspens is so meaningful to me, living in Colorado. I also relate to the connectedness concept that you speak of in the afterword. It occurs to me that connectedness is a concept that brings sadness as well as happiness – when we feel so deeply the loss or pain of an animal because of disaster or climate change or as in our recent backyard bird episode – predation. I am sorry to say I have no idea what the bird is in your recording though!

Thank you for your comments. The bird song you heard comes from a black-headed grosbeak. There are several types of grosbeaks maybe one visits Colorado.
