  1. A listener from Colorado sent me this to post:
    What the poem makes me think of is how experiencing art in literary form– and I think I would saw whether reading words on a page or listening to spoke words –engages every sense. We imagine smells, sounds, tastes, sight, and sensations. I just don’t –and never have–had that same experience with experiencing a painting. I really liked this poem!

  2. Hello — such an interesting observation. Paintings do speak to us and move us–but how. Interior? Sometimes I see a flower or a piece of fruit in a painting, and I get a feeling I can taste it and pick the object up. It’s imagination that feels real and mysterious nature behind it that’s quite powerful, for me, when I view art. But, poetry also has mystery and engages the imagination. And music? Do we see music– does music create imagination and images. An interesting word to explore is synesthesia — when you can hear colors, and see music, and feel a painting …. thank you for your observations.

  3. What is Art?

    Marian-Webster
    : the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects
    //the art of painting landscapes
    also : works so produced

    I think of art as finding ways to interpret the world around me— Using my senses to see, hear, touch, taste, smell, feel (emotional), and understand (knowledge) Being. All forms of artistic expression has the potential to expand my experience of aliveness. Dance, musical, culinary, theatrical, visual, written, spoken, architect… all ways to express emotions and ideas.

  4. Wonderful weaving of the arts and tools of expression! I heard “apples, red and golden…”, and immediately thought delicious! As a dabbler in watercolor painting, I love the fluidity of paint, how it moves and changes and is not, for me, quite in control. Words, especially when writing poetry, are much the same for me — the exquisite joy of one word offering up the next! Often surprising!
