  1. Hope! 80 days until the Vernal Equinox.
    20° this morning.
There is vigorous activity at the bird feeder.
Quail scurry beneath the lilac bushes.
In 80 days those century old woody skeletons will be bedizened in spicy clusters of nosegay.

  2. Sometimes we just need some small thing, like a thrush offering a song, to capture our attention and divert it from our internal focus and worries.

I just re-listened to The Darkling Thrush. I love your tradition of reciting this poem as the year changes. Hope seems hard to come by. I think I mostly find it outdoors, in nature, especially when seeing a plant grow someplace where it may seem impossible

    1. Thanks for your reflections. I agree about the place to find peace is in nature. I actively seek this daily. If we did not have a nature somewhat normal and as we have known it, it follows we might not have any place where we can feel grounded, yet humans don’t seem to be aware of this and don’t seem willing to do what it takes to protect and preserve. Or should I say-those in power don’t seem to be in touch with these concepts. I guess they spend way too much time out of nature and inside their money-realms.
