From a listener in Colorado:
I can’t comment on the site because I only have my phone but you’re welcome to post the following if you like:
Autumn has always been my favorite season and I loved this poem for giving me a different take on autumn. I don’t have farming background but I love to live most of my life outdoors and autumn has always been a time of increased activity before winter sets in, and after summer keeps me inside during the hottest part of the day. When I think about it though, where I live, every season features different but equally riotous moments of incredible beauty. Of course, the colorful fall leaves, but then dazzlingly brilliant snow in winter, the greening up of hills in spring and the summer wildflowers ranging from demure to almost garish. But autumn is also such a meaningful metaphor for where people my age are in life and with that in mind one like that really resonates with me is the leaves knowing how to fall. -

I was clearing out old emails and found your poem — so glad I listened to it! I think a month has passed since you posted “Autumn Sense,” and here we are in the midst of color and change and cold, clear mornings. It will rain soon and not stop for some time. I love the use of repeated lines. Sometimes we need to hear things twice. I am not a very good leaf, hold on to much I should let go, angst, papers, old furniture, memories, piles and piles. I would love a copy of this poem!

So glad you found this today and listened. Another friend also discovered it in their line of emails and listened, how coincidental. In the collection The Beautiful One’s Ark there is a very close copy of “Autumn Sense.” Let me know if you don’t find it.
