  1. The repeated “they say get over it” brought up an unexpected painful memory for me…I had a miscarriage at 17 weeks along when my kids were small. I really grieved for a long time and I especially kept thinking about the fact that I never knew if the baby would have been a boy or a girl. My husband (at the time – now ex). was just really exasperated by this and I remember him saying “I just can’t understand why you’re not over it yet.”

    1. Thank you for listening and for your comments. I think poetry affects us on a subconscious level. It’s not like reading a news report. When we experience a poem the language and images zoom into our minds in unexpected ways and give us things to see and realize that we didn’t know about when we began the poem. It’s mysterious and interesting in my book. Thanks again for sharing.
