I just love comparing the rise and fall of the seasons to how we are inside.

  Thank you for your comment. I discovered Parker J. Palmer’s poetry through a Quaker meeting in Oregon. Palmer has so many talents as an educator, organizer, essayist, writer, and poet. I enjoy sharing his work as his themes connect with a wide variety of people. Yes, it’s a beautiful insight how our body has seasons like the environment does, and our experience with body, feelings, perceptions rises and falls –comes and goes– like the seasons. To me it points to a profound unity or interpenetration between humans and this environment.

About Me

“I’m a retired Humanities professor, published essayist, poet, painter, singer, and old-time fiddle musician living on an historic two-hundred-acre farm in Eastern Oregon. I plant gardens for pollinators and revel in insects, bird dogs, donkeys, goats, cats, and American fantail and roller pigeons. My lyric landscapes are oak savannah, prairie, and riparian.
