  2. The beginning reminds me of Robert Hayden’s “Those Winter Sundays” – that father-son intimacy. This poem is so visual I can see it unfolding before me. That stillness of prayer . . . and then breakfast. Lovely!

    1. Agreed! Brings to life an episode and an historical period wrapped in clear images and an underlying rhythm that carries you along. I love the sense of urgent community at work.

  3. I enjoyed this important glimpse of ordinary life. A simple rain can impact a year’s effort in the life of a farmer. I like the new poem-music-afterward transition.
