Your afterword is a perfect postscript for this poem, the way a poem moves right to our heart. Tragic as it is to lose these big trees, I love the part about storing and using the wood for different things.

I was so moved by the afterword. My son and I were just talking about this (I am on the East coast visiting him).

“I’m a retired Humanities professor, published essayist, poet, painter, singer, and old-time fiddle musician living on an historic two-hundred-acre farm in Eastern Oregon.
