there is no predicting the future

but hope is our lifeline.

without it….we’re sunk

What is peace? There is inner peace and outer peace. For me I think it is serenity and calmness. It is ephemeral. Is it possible to arrive at an everlasting peace?

Thank you for this poem. I have sent it on to my 97-year-old mother. This may ease her suffering from the recent loss of her life partner. I realize it reflects a predicament all humans share.

When I was young I thought/believed everlasting peace was found via religion or the afterlife attached to religion. These days it seems the essence is in the changeability of experience–peace to ruffled, peace to disturbed and back again.

And Dale– thank you for forwarding this audio on to your mother. That’s rather wonderful and brings me a smile for sure….

I appreciate hearing about the online course you’re taking ‘Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet”. Beautiful that someone shared this poem as a part of your huge group’s care and questioning for life.
