  1. What external force illuminates and stirs the sleeping tiger within?

What damage might I cause if I am awakened?

    1. Is the tiger that once slept now awakened necessarily dangerous? This is the question/comment that arose from your observation. Thanks for commenting… makes richer…

    2. The last 4 lines ask us to consider what is the tiger. It’s coming closer… the light is insight , illumination…I love swimming in the mystery of this poem…

  2. The creature seemed very alive to me but interesting to hear your vision, which makes sense – “like a sphinx”. I would not have guessed tiger, but that makes sense too.

  4. Thank you, Sher, for reading this wonderful Wilner poem. Hearing this again, who can forget Blake’s poem “Tiger, Tiger” that stands behind this one. Wilner transmutes his query about a fearful creation to a quieter rumination on the connection between all living creatures, if only we are still and patient enough to notice.

    1. A wonderful commentary thank you. I hope to post more Wilner later this year; her poems are some of my favorites.
