  I’m curious your thoughts about the role of Lad’s Love in the poem? I hadn’t focused on this herb, but now that I do research I find it is quite the aphrodisiac plant. Online I see various ways to describe the scent the poet describes as bitter. The herb seems connected to unfulfilled love or a longing…

About Me

“I’m a retired Humanities professor, published essayist, poet, painter, singer, and old-time fiddle musician living on an historic two-hundred-acre farm in Eastern Oregon. I plant gardens for pollinators and revel in insects, bird dogs, donkeys, goats, cats, and American fantail and roller pigeons. My lyric landscapes are oak savannah, prairie, and riparian.
